I stumbled Across this art installation in Trafalgar Square of a First World War Soldier in a trapeze shaped box full off poppies that are blown around him by fans.
Everyone cheers each time the fans come on.
While it seems full of good intentikns I can help but think it is the death equivilant of novelty snowglobes.
I saw the poppies filling the moat at the tower of London in Summer and felt awed and proud as people took quiet around it.
But this reminds me of ‘Delirius New York- its chapters on the creation of Coney Island and amusement for the masses.
A few feet away real soldiers are on parade returning from the Lord Mayors Show I once performed in for charity.
I just want to uncage this statue.
What do you think?
